I've made my own brand of Twinkies that some of you might enjoy. I start with a thick sponge cake I bake and let cool. I then cut it into Twinkies size loafs. I use a thin walled piece of stainless steel tubing fairly large diameter. Pushing the tube through the middle of the cake almost through the other side. When I remove the tube there is a nice cavity left to be filled. Using a chop stick, I push the cake out of the tubing and use it for plugs.
